Related Product Information for anti-ITGA6 antibody
Several major families of cell adhesion molecules can be distinguished. These include the cadherins and N-CAMs, which play a crucial role in cell recognition and adhesion, while integrins are implicated in the adherence of cells to the extracellular matrix.

Cadherins constitute a family of proteins, the members of which are differentially expressed in the different tissues. One of the best characterized members is E-cadherin, which is prevalent in epithelial tissues. It has been shown to play a crucial role in the process of tumor cell metastasis. NCAM's (neural cell adhesion molecules) exist in at least three forms of plasma membrane plycoproteins, which are expressed in a variety of tissues including most nerve cells.
The integrins, finally, form a large family of glycosylated transmembrane proteins that act as dimers of an a- and a beta-subunit in interconnecting the cytoskeleton and the extracellular matrix.

NCBI Description

The ITGA6 protein product is the integrin alpha chain alpha 6. Integrins are integral cell-surface proteins composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain. A given chain may combine with multiple partners resulting in different integrins. For example, alpha 6 may combine with beta 4 in the integrin referred to as TSP180, or with beta 1 in the integrin VLA-6. Integrins are known to participate in cell adhesion as well as cell-surface mediated signalling. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

ITGA6: Integrin alpha-6/beta-1 is a receptor for laminin on platelets. Integrin alpha-6/beta-4 is a receptor for laminin in epithelial cells and it plays a critical structural role in the hemidesmosome. Heterodimer of an alpha and a beta subunit. The alpha subunit is composed of an heavy and a light chain linked by a disulfide bond. Alpha-6 associates with either beta-1 or beta-4. Interacts with HPS5. Interacts with RAB21. Integrin alpha-6/beta-4 is predominantly expressed by epithelia. Isoforms containing segment X1 are ubiquitously expressed. Isoforms containing segment X1X2 are expressed in heart, kidney, placenta, colon, duodenum, myoblasts and myotubes, and in a limited number of cell lines; they are always coexpressed with the ubiquitous isoform containing segment X1. In some tissues (e.g. Salivary gland), isoforms containing cytoplasmic segment A and isoforms containing segment B are detected while in others, only isoforms containing one cytoplasmic segment are found (segment A in epidermis and segment B in kidney). Belongs to the integrin alpha chain family. 8 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The ITGA6 itga6 (Catalog #AAA604159) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Integrin alpha6B reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Integrin alpha6B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry (frozen sections), Immunocytochemistry, and Western Blotting., Optimum dilutions to be determined by researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ITGA6 itga6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Integrin alpha6B, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
