NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the G-protein-coupled receptor family . It is a receptor for the CC chemokine - MIP-1, RANTES, TARC and MCP-1. Chemokines are a group of small polypeptide, structurally related molecules that regulate cell trafficking of various types of leukocytes. The chemokines also play fundamental roles in the development, homeostasis, and function of the immune system, and they have effects on cells of the central nervous system as well as on endothelial cells involved in angiogenesis or angiostasis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

CCR4: High affinity receptor for the C-C type chemokines CCL17/TARC and CCL22/MDC. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G(i) proteins which activate a phosphatidylinositol- calcium second messenger system. Can function as a chemoattractant homing receptor on circulating memory lymphocytes and as a coreceptor for some primary HIV-2 isolates. In the CNS, could mediate hippocampal-neuron survival. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Receptor, GPCR; Membrane protein, integral; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; GPCR, family 1

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3p24

Cellular Component: external side of plasma membrane; integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: C-C chemokine receptor activity; chemokine receptor activity

Biological Process: chemotaxis; elevation of cytosolic calcium ion concentration; G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; homeostasis of number of cells; immune response; inflammatory response; neuron migration; tolerance induction

Product Notes

The CCR4 ccr4 (Catalog #AAA542651) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's CCR4 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, CF, Dot Blot (DB), ELISA (EIA), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), IMM, Western Blot (WB). Confocal Microscopy||1:250 Immunocytochemistry: 1:250 Immunofluorescence: 1:250 Immunohistochemistry: 1:250 Western Blot: 1:500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CCR4 ccr4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CCR4, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
