Biological Significance
The GATA family of transcription factors, which contain zinc fingers in their DNA binding domain, have emerged as candidate regulators of gene expression in hematopoietic cells. GATA1 is essential for normal primitive and definitive erythropoiesis and is expressed at high levels in erythroid cells, mast cells, and megakaryocytes. GATA2 is expressed in hematopoietic progenitors, including early erythroid cells, mast cells, and megakaryocytes, and also in nonhematopoietic embryonic stem cells. In chicken erythroid progenitors, forced expression of GATA2 promotes proliferation at the expense of differentiation. GATA3 expression is restricted to T-lymphoid cells and some nonhematopoietic cell types, including embryonic stem cells.
Cross-Reactivity
Human. Other species not studied
Biohazard Information
This antibody solution contains sodium azide (NaN) as a preservative. There is a potential hazard that NaN reacts with copper or lead to produce an explosive compound. For safe disposal, the vial has to be washed thoroughly with water. It is strongly advised that this product should be handled by people who have been well trained in laboratory techniques and that it is handled with care pursuant to the principles of good laboratory practice.
Immunogen
GATA2 antibody was raised in mouse using recombinant Human Gata Binding Protein 2
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C for up to one year. We recommend long term storage at -20 degree C. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the GATA family of zinc-finger transcription factors that are named for the consensus nucleotide sequence they bind in the promoter regions of target genes. The encoded protein plays an essential role in regulating transcription of genes involved in the development and proliferation of hematopoietic and endocrine cell lineages. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2009]

Uniprot Description

GATA2: Transcriptional activator which regulates endothelin-1 gene expression in endothelial cells. Binds to the consensus sequence 5'-AGATAG-3'. Endothelial cells. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The GATA2 gata2 (Catalog #AAA533755) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's GATA2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Dot Blot (DB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). To be optimized by the end user. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GATA2 gata2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GATA2, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
