Related Product Information for PCTK1 recombinant protein
Description: Recombinant human PCTK1 (CDK16) (107-end) and Cyclin Y (2-end) were co-expressed by baculovirus in Sf9 insect cells using N-terminal GST tags.
Scientific Background: PCTK1 or PCTAIRE PROTEIN KINASE 1 belongs to the cdc2/cdkx subfamily of the ser/thr family of protein kinases. PCTK1 plays a role in signal transduction cascades in terminally differentiated cells, in exocytosis, and in transport of secretory cargo from the endoplasmic reticulum (1). PCTK1 is ubiquitously expressed with the highest levels detected in the brain and testis. PCTK1 also contained the gene coding for ubiquitin-activating enzyme UBE1 that previously shown to mapped to Xp11.3 (2).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the cdc2/cdkx subfamily of the ser/thr family of protein kinases. It may play a role in signal transduction cascades in terminally differentiated cells; in exocytosis; and in transport of secretory cargo from the endoplasmic reticulum. This gene is thought to escape X inactivation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2009]

Uniprot Description

CDK16: an atypical member of the cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) family. Activated via binding phosphorylated cyclin Y complexed with 14-3-3 zeta, theta, or eta. Plays a role in vesicle-mediated transport processes and exocytosis. Regulates GH1 release by brain neurons. Phosphorylates NSF, and thereby regulates NSF oligomerization. Required for normal spermatogenesis. Regulates neuron differentiation and dendrite development. Plays a role in the regulation of insulin secretion in response to changes in blood glucose levels. Three isoforms of the human protein may be generated via alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The PCTK1 cdk16 (Catalog #AAA515565) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Sf9 insect cells using baculovirus and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is PCTK1 (CDK16) (107-end) and Cyclin Y (2-end). AAA Biotech's PCTK1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Kinase Assay, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PCTK1 cdk16 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PCTK1, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
