Component of the PRC2/EED-EZH2 complex, which includes EED, EZH2, SUZ12, RBBP4 and RBBP7 and possibly AEBP2. The minimum components required for methyltransferase activity of the PRC2/EED-EZH2 complex are EED, EZH2 and SUZ12. Component of the PRC2/EED-EZH1 complex, which includes EED, EZH1, SUZ12, RBBP4 and AEBP2. The PRC2 complex may also interact with DNMT1, DNMT3A, DNMT3B and PHF1 via the EZH2 subunit and with SIRT1 via the SUZ12 subunit. Interacts with WDR77. Interacts with histone H1. Interacts with CDYL. Interacts with ARNTL/BMAL1.

Entrez Summary: This zinc finger gene has been identified at the breakpoints of a recurrent chromosomal translocation reported in endometrial stromal sarcoma. Recombination of these breakpoints results in the fusion of this gene and JAZF1. The protein encoded by this gene contains a zinc finger domain in the C terminus of the coding region. (Provided by RefSeq) SUZ12 is overexpressed in several human tumors, including tumors of the colon, breast and liver.Tissue specificity: Overexpressed in breast and colon cancer.
UniPort Summary Function: Polycomb group (PcG) protein. Component of the PRC2/EED-EZH2 complex, which methylates Lys-9 (H3K9me) and Lys-27 (H3K27me) of histone H3, leading to transcriptional repression of the affected target gene. The PRC2/EED-EZH2 complex may also serve as a recruiting platform for DNA methyltransferases, thereby linking two epigenetic repression systems. Genes repressed by the PRC2/EED-EZH2 complex include HOXC8, HOXA9, MYT1 and CDKN2A.

Product Notes

The SUZ12 suz12 (Catalog #AAA476107) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-SUZ12 Mouse mAb reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SUZ12 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SUZ12 suz12 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SUZ12, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
