Specificity
The highly leukemogenic avian retrovirus E26 contains two oncogenes, v-Myb and v-Ets, which are expressed together as a fusion protein. The cellular hom- olog of v-Myb, designated c-Myb, encodes a transcription factor. Deletion or disruption of a negative regulatory domain mapping within the carboxy-ter- minal domain of c-Myb results in enhanced transactivating capacity and in parallel, leads to activation of its ability to transform hemopoietic cells. c-Myb is expressed preferentially, but not exclusively, in immature hemopoietic cells and its expression decreases as cells differentiate.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a transcription factor that is a member of the MYB family of transcription factor genes. The protein contains three domains, an N-terminal DNA-binding domain, a central transcriptional activation domain and a C-terminal domain involved in transcriptional repression. This protein plays an essential role in the regulation of hematopoiesis and may play a role in tumorigenesis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2009]

Uniprot Description

Myb: Transcriptional activator; DNA-binding protein that specifically recognize the sequence 5'-YAAC[GT]G-3'. Plays an important role in the control of proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells. 6 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Oncoprotein; DNA-binding; Transcription factor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6q22-q23

Cellular Component: nuclear matrix; cytosol

Molecular Function: protein binding; chromatin binding

Biological Process: positive regulation of histone H3-K9 methylation; thymus development; transcription, DNA-dependent; in utero embryonic development; positive regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; homeostasis of number of cells; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; positive regulation of histone H3-K4 methylation; chromatin remodeling; positive regulation of T-helper cell differentiation; regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; calcium ion transport; B cell differentiation; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; negative regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; blood coagulation; embryonic gut development; G1/S transition of mitotic cell cycle

Product Notes

The MYB myb (Catalog #AAA438289) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The c-Myb Oncoprotein reacts with Human. and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's c-Myb Oncoprotein can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunofluorescence (IF), Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Immunohistology (IH). ELISA (For coating, order Ab without BSA); Flow Cytometry (0.5-1ug/million cells); Immunofluorescence (1-2ug/ml); Western Blotting (0.5-1ug/ml); Immunoprecipitation (1-2ug/500ug protein lysate); Optimal dilution for a specific application should be determined. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MYB myb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "c-Myb Oncoprotein, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
