NCBI Description

This gene encodes a phosphoinositide binding protein containing ARF-GAP, RHO-GAP, RAS-associating, and pleckstrin homology domains. The ARF-GAP and RHO-GAP domains cooperate in mediating rearrangements in the cell cytoskeleton and cell shape. It is a specific PtdIns(3,4,5)P3/PtdIns(3,4)P2-stimulated Arf6-GAP protein. An alternatively spliced transcript has been found for this gene, but its biological validity has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015]

Uniprot Description

ARAP3: Phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate-dependent GTPase-activating protein that modulates actin cytoskeleton remodeling by regulating ARF and RHO family members. Is activated by phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate (PtdIns(3,4,5)P3) binding. Can be activated by phosphatidylinositol 3,4-bisphosphate (PtdIns(3,4,5)P2) binding, albeit with lower efficiency. Acts on ARF6, RAC1, RHOA and CDC42. Plays a role in the internalization of anthrax toxin.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; GAPs, ARF; GAPs

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q31.3

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; cytoskeleton; cytosol; lamellipodium; plasma membrane; ruffle

Molecular Function: GTPase activator activity; metal ion binding; phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-triphosphate binding; phosphatidylinositol-3,4-bisphosphate binding; protein binding

Biological Process: cytoskeleton organization and biogenesis; negative regulation of cell migration; negative regulation of Rac protein signal transduction; negative regulation of Rho protein signal transduction; positive regulation of GTPase activity; regulation of cell shape; regulation of small GTPase mediated signal transduction; signal transduction; vesicle-mediated transport

Product Notes

The CENTD3 arap3 (Catalog #AAA426755) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The ARAP3 Immunizing Peptide reacts with Human, Mouse, Dog, Pig, Cow and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: CTSSPPSSQP LT. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ARAP3, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
