Goat Fascin 2 Polyclonal Antibody | anti-FSCN2 antibody
Goat anti-Fascin 2 Antibody
Immunohistochemistry: This product was successfully used on sections of mouse cochlea as descibed in Shin et al, J Neurosci.2010 Jul 21;30(29): 9683-94; PMID: 20660251
Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave bands at approx 75kDa and 22kDa in Mouse Eye lysates after 0. 05ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the bands we observe given the calculated size of 57.4kDa according to NP_001070650.1 and 55.1kDa according to NP_036550.1. Both detected bands were successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide (and BLAST results with the immunizing peptide sequence did not identify any other proteins to explain the additional bands).
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the fascin protein family. Fascins crosslink actin into filamentous bundles within dynamic cell extensions. This family member is proposed to play a role in photoreceptor disk morphogenesis. A mutation in this gene results in one form of autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa and macular degeneration. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
FSCN2: Acts as an actin bundling protein. May play a pivotal role in photoreceptor cell-specific events, such as disk morphogenesis. Defects in FSCN2 are the cause of retinitis pigmentosa type 30 (RP30). RP leads to degeneration of retinal photoreceptor cells. Patients typically have night vision blindness and loss of midperipheral visual field. As their condition progresses, they lose their far peripheral visual field and eventually central vision as well. RP30 inheritance is autosomal dominant. Belongs to the fascin family.

Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FSCN2 fscn2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: CHHRGSNQLD TNR. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Fascin 2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
