Uniprot Description

K13: a type I cytoskeletal keratin. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. There are two types of cytoskeletal and microfibrillar keratin: type I (acidic; 40-55 kDa) [K9 to K20] and type II (neutral to basic; 56-70 kDa) [K1 to K8]. Both a basic and an acidic keratin are required for filament assembly. Generally associates with K4

Protein type: Cytoskeletal

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q21.2

Cellular Component: intermediate filament cytoskeleton; keratin filament; nucleus

Molecular Function: structural molecule activity

Biological Process: response to radiation; tongue morphogenesis; cytoskeleton organization and biogenesis

Disease: White Sponge Nevus 2

Product Notes

The Cytokeratin 13 krt13 (Catalog #AAA375184) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse Anti-Cytokeratin 13 [AE8] reacts with Mouse, Rabbit, Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Cytokeratin 13 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin. Optimal antibody dilution should be determined by titration, however as guideline try at WB: 1/1000 - 1/3000. Predicted molecular weight: 50 kDa. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Cytokeratin 13 krt13 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cytokeratin 13, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
