Immunocytochemical Staining
Application Notes
Immunocytochemical Staining: This antiserum has been found to stain 3% buffered paraformaldehyde fixed rat brain sections using an indirect immunofluorescent staining procedures at a dilution of 1:1000. Please note that higher dilutions may also yield positive results. We recommend performing a small titration experiment starting at a dilution of 1:1000 in order to determine the antibody dilution that gives the best specific staining with little or no background in your specific procedure.
Related Product Information for anti-BNP antibody
The antiserum was raised in a rabbit which was immunized with brain natriuretic polypeptide covalently attached onto a carrier protein. The antiserum has been characterized by RIA. ELISA. and cell staining techniques. This antiserum is specific for BNP and is suitable for use in immunocytochemical techniques. Dilute the lyophilized antiserum with 0.1 ml of 10 mg/ml BSA is PBS for the equivalent of whole antiserum. or with additional buffer for more dilute antiserum

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the natriuretic peptide family and encodes a secreted protein which functions as a cardiac hormone. The protein undergoes two cleavage events, one within the cell and a second after secretion into the blood. The protein's biological actions include natriuresis, diuresis, vasorelaxation, inhibition of renin and aldosterone secretion, and a key role in cardiovascular homeostasis. A high concentration of this protein in the bloodstream is indicative of heart failure. The protein also acts as an antimicrobial peptide with antibacterial and antifungal activity. Mutations in this gene have been associated with postmenopausal osteoporosis. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2014]

Uniprot Description

NPPB: Cardiac hormone which may function as a paracrine antifibrotic factor in the heart. Also plays a key role in cardiovascular homeostasis through natriuresis, diuresis, vasorelaxation, and inhibition of renin and aldosterone secretion. Specifically binds and stimulates the cGMP production of the NPR1 receptor. Binds the clearance receptor NPR3. Belongs to the natriuretic peptide family.

Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Hormone; Secreted

Product Notes

The BNP (Catalog #AAA352042) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Brain Natriuretic Peptide can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunocytochemical Staining. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BNP for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Brain Natriuretic Peptide, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
