Related Product Information for anti-ASIC1 antibody
Acid sensing (proton-gated) ion channel 1 (ASIC1) is a cation channel with high affinity for sodium which is gated by extracellular protons and inhibited by the diuretic amiloride. It is also permeable for Ca(2+), Li(+) and K(+) and mediates glutamate-independent Ca(2+) entry into neurons upon acidosis. This Ca(2+) overloading is toxic for cortical neurons and may be in part responsible for ischemic brain injury. ASIC1 functions as a postsynaptic proton receptor that influences intracellular Ca(2+) concentration and calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II phosphory-lation.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the acid-sensing ion channel (ASIC) family of proteins, which are part of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (DEG/ENaC) superfamily. Members of the ASIC family are sensitive to amiloride and function in neurotransmission. The encoded proteins function in learning, pain transduction, touch sensation, and development of memory and fear. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2012]

Uniprot Description

Product Notes

The ASIC1 asic1 (Catalog #AAA190660) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's ASIC1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunoblot (IB). Immunoblotting: Use at 1ug/ml. A band of ~60kDa is detected. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ASIC1 asic1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ASIC1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
