Related Product Information for anti-MPO antibody
Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is a heme enzyme that is localized in azurophilic (primary) granules of myeloid cells and its synthesis occurs at an early stage of differentiation. The mature myeloperoxidase is a tetramer composed of two light (12 kDa) and two heavy (60 kDa) chains. This enzyme uses hydrogen peroxide to oxidize numerous substrates, including serotonin, melatonin or chloride, to produce reactive free radicals that contribute to immune reactions of myeloid cells against pathogens. Myeloperoxidase functions not only in host defense by mediating efficient microbial killing but also can contribute to progressive tissue damage in chronic inflammatory states such as atherosclerosis or acute pancreatitis.

NCBI Description

Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is a heme protein synthesized during myeloid differentiation that constitutes the major component of neutrophil azurophilic granules. Produced as a single chain precursor, myeloperoxidase is subsequently cleaved into a light and heavy chain. The mature myeloperoxidase is a tetramer composed of 2 light chains and 2 heavy chains. This enzyme produces hypohalous acids central to the microbicidal activity of neutrophils. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2014]

Uniprot Description

MPO: Part of the host defense system of polymorphonuclear leukocytes. It is responsible for microbicidal activity against a wide range of organisms. In the stimulated PMN, MPO catalyzes the production of hypohalous acids, primarily hypochlorous acid in physiologic situations, and other toxic intermediates that greatly enhance PMN microbicidal activity. Homodimer; disulfide-linked. Each monomer consists of a light and a heavy chain. Belongs to the peroxidase family. XPO subfamily. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The MPO mpo (Catalog #AAA1801384) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Hu Myeloperoxidase PE reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Myeloperoxidase can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). FC/FACS: QC tested. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MPO mpo for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Myeloperoxidase, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
