Background: Vasoactive intestinal peptide, also known as PHM27 or VIP, is a peptide hormone containing 28 amino acid residues. This gene is mapped to 6q25. The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the glucagon family. It stimulates myocardial contractility, causes vasodilation, increases glycogenolysis, lowers arterial blood pressure and relaxes the smooth muscle of trachea, stomach and gall bladder. The protein also acts as an antimicrobial peptide with antibacterial and antifungal activity. Alternative splicing occurs at this locus and two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.

Product Notes

The VIP vip (Catalog #AAA178410) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-VIP Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat No cross reactivity with other proteins. and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's VIP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin. Immunohistochemisry Paraffin: 0.5-1mug/ml; Tested Species: Human, Mouse, Rat Tested Species:In-house tested species with positive results. By Heat: Boiling the paraffin sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH6.0, for 20mins is required for the staining of formalin/paraffin sections. Other applications have not been tested. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the VIP vip for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "VIP, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
