Related Product Information for anti-IL13 antibody
Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Interleukin-13(IL13) detection. Tested with ELISA in Rat.

Background: IL-13, Interleukin 13, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the IL-13 gene. IL-13 is a kind of cytokine secreted by many cell types, but especially T helper type 2 (Th2) cells, which is an important mediator of allergic inflammation and disease. The IL-13 gene is mapped to 5q23-q31. IL-13 induces its effects through a multi-subunit receptor that includes the alpha chain of the IL-4 receptor (IL-4Ralpha) and at least one of two known IL-13-specific binding chains. This gene acts more prominently as a molecular bridge linking allergic inflammatory cells to the non-immune cells in contact with them, thereby altering physiological function.

NCBI Description

cytokine; involved in inflammatory and immune responses [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

IL13: Cytokine. Inhibits inflammatory cytokine production. Synergizes with IL2 in regulating interferon-gamma synthesis. May be critical in regulating inflammatory and immune responses. Defects in IL13 may be a cause of susceptibility to allergic rhinitis (ALRH). Allergic rhinitis is a common disease of complex inheritance and is characterized by mucosal inflammation caused by allergen exposure. Belongs to the IL-4/IL-13 family.

Protein type: Secreted; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Secreted, signal peptide

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; external side of plasma membrane; extracellular region; extracellular space

Molecular Function: cytokine activity; interleukin-13 receptor binding

Biological Process: immune response; inflammatory response; microglial cell activation; negative regulation of NAD(P)H oxidase activity; positive regulation of B cell proliferation; positive regulation of connective tissue growth factor production; positive regulation of immunoglobulin production; positive regulation of ion transport; positive regulation of macrophage activation; positive regulation of mast cell degranulation; positive regulation of protein secretion; positive regulation of release of sequestered calcium ion into cytosol; positive regulation of smooth muscle cell proliferation; positive regulation of tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat6 protein; regulation of proton transport; response to ethanol; response to lipopolysaccharide; response to mechanical stimulus; response to nicotine

Product Notes

The IL13 il13 (Catalog #AAA178098) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-IL13 Antibody reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's IL13 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IL13 il13 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL13, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
