Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with human KRT17 antibody. KRT17 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated human KRT17 Antibody is added and binds to KRT17 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated KRT17 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of human KRT17. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes the type I intermediate filament chain keratin 17, expressed in nail bed, hair follicle, sebaceous glands, and other epidermal appendages. Mutations in this gene lead to Jackson-Lawler type pachyonychia congenita and steatocystoma multiplex. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2008]
Uniprot Description
Type I keratin involved in the formation and maintenance of various skin appendages, specifically in determining shape and orientation of hair (). Required for the correct growth of hair follicles, in particular for the persistence of the anagen (growth) state (). Modulates the function of TNF-alpha in the specific context of hair cycling. Regulates protein synthesis and epithelial cell growth through binding to the adapter protein SFN and by stimulating Akt/mTOR pathway (). Involved in tissue repair. May be a marker of basal cell differentiation in complex epithelia and therefore indicative of a certain type of epithelial "stem cells". Acts as a promoter of epithelial proliferation by acting a regulator of immune response in skin: promotes Th1/Th17-dominated immune environment contributing to the development of basaloid skin tumors (). May act as an autoantigen in the immunopathogenesis of psoriasis, with certain peptide regions being a major target for autoreactive T-cells and hence causing their proliferation.

Product Notes
The Human KRT17 krt17 (Catalog #AAA166913) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA166913 ELISA Kit recognizes Human KRT17. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Keratin 17 (KRT17), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
