Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of human Cadherln-related Neuronal Receptor 1 (also known as CNR-1) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.
Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with human CNR-1 antibody. CNR-1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated human CNR-1 Antibody is added and binds to CNR-1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated CNR-1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of human CNR-1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the calcium-binding protein superfamily that includes calmodulin and troponin C. Originally described as a 27 kDa protein, it is now known to be a 28 kDa protein. It contains four active calcium-binding domains, and has two modified domains that are thought to have lost their calcium binding capability. This protein is thought to buffer entry of calcium upon stimulation of glutamate receptors. Depletion of this protein was noted in patients with Huntington disease. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2015]
