Related Product Information for anti-GRIK3 antibody
Grik3 Antibody: Glutamate receptors are the predominant excitatory neurotransmitter receptors in the mammalian brain and are activated in a variety of normal neurophysiologic processes. Grik3, also known as glutamate receptor 7, belongs to the kainate family of glutamate receptors, which are composed of four subunits and function as ligand-activated ion channels. Grik3 is highly homologous to the related ionotrophic glutamate receptors Grik2 and Grik1. Grik3 has recently been shown to be an essential subunit of presynaptic kainate autoreceptors at hippocampal mossy fiber synapses as grik3-null mice show significantly reduced short- and long-term synaptic potentiation. Other reports have suggested that different polymorphisms in the Grik3 protein may be associated with neurological defects such as recurrent major depressive disorder and schizophrenia. This Grik3 antibody does not cross-react with Grik2.

NCBI Description

Glutamate receptors are the predominant excitatory neurotransmitter receptors in the mammalian brain and are activated in a variety of normal neurophysiologic processes. This gene product belongs to the kainate family of glutamate receptors, which are composed of four subunits and function as ligand-activated ion channels. It is not certain if the subunit encoded by this gene is subject to RNA editing as the other 2 family members (GRIK1 and GRIK2). A Ser310Ala polymorphism has been associated with schizophrenia, and there are conflicting reports of its association with the pathogenesis of delirium tremens in alcoholics. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

GluR7: Receptor for glutamate that functions as ligand-gated ion channel in the central nervous system and plays an important role in excitatory synaptic transmission. L-glutamate acts as an excitatory neurotransmitter at many synapses in the central nervous system. The postsynaptic actions of Glu are mediated by a variety of receptors that are named according to their selective agonists. This receptor binds domoate > kainate >> L-glutamate = quisqualate >> AMPA = NMDA. Belongs to the glutamate-gated ion channel (TC 1.A.10.1) family. GRIK3 subfamily.

Product Notes

The GRIK3 grik3 (Catalog #AAA151389) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Grik3 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Grik3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Grik3 antibody can be used for detection of Grik3 by Western blot at 1 - 2 mug/mL. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GRIK3 grik3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Grik3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
