NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a mitochondrial membrane protein that is responsible for increasing the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in cells. The protein also has antimicrobial activity against a variety of bacteria by inducing bacterial membrane breakage. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2014]

Uniprot Description

ROMO1: Induces production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) which are necessary for cell proliferation. May play a role in inducing oxidative DNA damage and replicative senescence. May play a role in the coordination of mitochondrial morphology and cell proliferation. Belongs to the MGR2 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Cell cycle regulation; Membrane protein, integral; Mitochondrial

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 20q11.22

Product Notes

The ROMO1 romo1 (Catalog #AAA1495151) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The ROMO1 Antibody, FITC conjugated reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ROMO1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ROMO1 romo1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ROMO1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
