Related Product Information for RLN2 recombinant protein
Description: RLN2 Human Recombinant produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 184 amino acids (25-185 a.a) and having a molecular mass of 20.7kDa.RLN2 is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Introduction: Prorelaxin H2 (RLN2) is a member of the insulin gene superfamily. This family which is produced by the ovary, targets the mammalian reproductive system to ripen the cervix, elongate the pubic symphysis and inhibit uterine contraction. It may also have other roles in boosting sperm motility, regulating blood pressure, controlling heart rate and releasing oxytocin and vasopressin. RLN2 is a peptide hormone linked to several therapeutically relevant physiological effects, including regulation of collagen metabolism and multiple vascular control pathways. The active form of the RLN2 protein consists of an A chain and a B chain linked by disulfide bonds.

NCBI Description

Relaxins are known endocrine and autocrine/paracrine hormones, belonging to the insulin gene superfamily. In humans there are three non-allelic relaxin genes, RLN1, RLN2 and RLN3, where RLN1 and RLN2 share high sequence homology. The active form of the protein encoded by this gene consists of an A chain and a B chain linked by disulfide bonds. Relaxin is produced by the ovary, and targets the mammalian reproductive system to ripen the cervix, elongate the pubic symphysis and inhibit uterine contraction. It may have additional roles in enhancing sperm motility, regulating blood pressure, controlling heart rate and releasing oxytocin and vasopressin. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2013]

Uniprot Description

RLN2: Relaxin is an ovarian hormone that acts with estrogen to produce dilatation of the birth canal in many mammals. May be involved in remodeling of connective tissues during pregnancy, promoting growth of pubic ligaments and ripening of the cervix. Belongs to the insulin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The RLN2 rln2 (Catalog #AAA146516) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MGSSHHH HHH SSGLVPRGSH MGSDSW MEEV IKLCGRELVR AQIAICGMST WSKRSLSQED APQTPRPVAE IVPSFINKDT ETINMMSEFV ANLPQELKLT LSEMQPALPQ LQQHVPVLKD SSLLFEEFKK LIRNRQSEAA DSSPSELKYL GLDTHSRKKR QLYSALANKC CHVGCTKRSL ARFC.. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Relaxin-2, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
