Related Product Information for CLTB recombinant protein
Description: CLTB Human Recombinant produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 234 amino acids (1-211 a.a) and having a molecular mass of 25.6kDa (Molecular size on SDS-PAGE will appear higher).CLTB is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Introduction: Clathrin light chain B (CLTB) is a member of the clathrin light chain family. Clathrin is a protein that has a key role in the formation of coated vesicles. CLTB functions as the key structural component of the lattice-type cytoplasmic face of coated pits and vesicles which capture certain macromolecules during receptor-mediated endocytosis. CLTB forms a triskelion form comprised of 3 clathrin heavy chains and 3 light chains. When the triskelia interact they form a polyhedral pattern which encircles the vesicle. CME (Clathrin-mediated endocytosis) controls numerous cellular physiological processes such as the internalization of growth factors and receptors, entry of pathogens, and synaptic transmission.

NCBI Description

Clathrin is a large, soluble protein composed of heavy and light chains. It functions as the main structural component of the lattice-type cytoplasmic face of coated pits and vesicles which entrap specific macromolecules during receptor-mediated endocytosis. This gene encodes one of two clathrin light chain proteins which are believed to function as regulatory elements. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

CLTB: Clathrin is the major protein of the polyhedral coat of coated pits and vesicles. Clathrin coats are formed from molecules containing 3 heavy chains and 3 light chains. Interacts (via N-terminus) with HIP1. Interacts with HIP1R. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Clathrin, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
