Related Product Information for ACOT13 recombinant protein
Description: ACOT13 Human Recombinant fused with a 20 amino acid His tag at N-terminus produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 160 amino acids (1-140 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 17.1kDa. The ACOT13 is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Introduction: Acyl-coenzyme A thioesterase 13 (ACOT13) belongs to the thioesterase subfamily of esterase family. ACOT13 is highly expressed in the kidney with moderate expression in the brain, liver and intestines. ACOT13 contains a hotdog-fold and is thought to co-localize with microtubules, possibly having a role in cellular proliferation events. Deletion of a segment of the q arm of chromosome 6 is linked to early onset intestinal cancer, suggesting the presence of a cancer susceptibility locus.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the thioesterase superfamily. In humans, the protein co-localizes with microtubules and is essential for sustained cell proliferation. The orthologous mouse protein forms a homotetramer and is associated with mitochondria. The mouse protein functions as a medium- and long-chain acyl-CoA thioesterase. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, May 2009]

Uniprot Description

THEM2: Acyl-CoA thioesterases are a group of enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of acyl-CoAs to the free fatty acid and coenzyme A (CoASH), providing the potential to regulate intracellular levels of acyl-CoAs, free fatty acids and CoASH. Has acyl-CoA thioesterase activity towards medium (C12) and long-chain (C18) fatty acyl-CoA substrates. Can also hydrolyze 3- hydroxyphenylacetyl-CoA and 3,4-dihydrohyphenylacetyl-CoA (in vitro). Belongs to the thioesterase PaaI family.

Protein type: EC 3.1.2.-

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6p22.3

Cellular Component: mitochondrion; spindle; nucleus; cytosol

Molecular Function: acyl-CoA hydrolase activity

Biological Process: metabolic process; protein homotetramerization

Product Notes

The ACOT13 acot13 (Catalog #AAA144185) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MGSSHHHHHH SSGLVPRGSH MTSMTQSLRE VIKAMTKARN FERVLGKITL VSAAPGKVIC EMKVEEEHTN AIGTLHGGLT ATLVDNISTM ALLCTERGAP GVSVDMNITY MSPAKLGEDI VITAHVLKQG KTLAFTSVDL TNKATGKLIA QGRHTKHLGN. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Acyl-CoA Thioesterase 13, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
