Uniprot Description

Modifies the topological state of DNA by introducing positive supercoils in an ATP-dependent process. It cleaves transiently a single DNA strand and remains covalently bound to the 5' DNA end through a tyrosine residue. May be involved in rewinding the DNA strands in the regions of the chromosome that have opened up to allow transcription or replication (). Its activity is inhibited by the DNA-binding protein 7d (Sso7d), suggesting that the Sso7d activity might counteract the overwinding effect of reverse gyrase.

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Reverse gyrase 1 (rgy1), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
