Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for YWHAQ has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any YWHAQ present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for YWHAQ is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of YWHAQ bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

This gene product belongs to the 14-3-3 family of proteins which mediate signal transduction by binding to phosphoserine-containing proteins. This highly conserved protein family is found in both plants and mammals, and this protein is 99% identical to the mouse and rat orthologs. This gene is upregulated in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It contains in its 5' UTR a 6 bp tandem repeat sequence which is polymorphic, however, there is no correlation between the repeat number and the disease. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

14-3-3 theta: a protein of the 14-3-3 family of proteins which mediate signal transduction by binding to phosphoserine-containing proteins. A multifunctional regulator of the cell signaling processes. Associates with c-BCR and BCR-Abl.

Protein type: Adaptor/scaffold

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p25.1

Cellular Component: focal adhesion; cytoplasmic vesicle membrane; membrane; cytoplasm; cytosol

Molecular Function: protein domain specific binding; protein binding; protein N-terminus binding

Biological Process: substantia nigra development; apoptosis; small GTPase mediated signal transduction; negative regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; protein targeting

Product Notes

The Human YWHAQ ywhaq (Catalog #AAA927389) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA927389 ELISA Kit recognizes Human YWHAQ. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "tyrosine 3-monooxygenase/tryptophan 5-monooxygenase activation protein, theta polypeptide, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
