Related Product Information for ULBP2 / N2DL-2 recombinant protein
Background: NKG2D ligand 2, also known as N2DL-2, NKG2DL2, ALCAN-alpha, Retinoic acid early transcript 1H, UL16-binding protein 2, ULBP2 and N2DL2, is cell membrane protein which belongs to the MHC class I family. ULBP2 / N2DL-2 is expressed in various type s of cancer cell lines and in the fetus, but not in normal tissues. ULBP2 / N2DL-2 is a ligand for the NKG2D receptor, together with at least ULBP1 and ULBP3. ULBPs activate multiple signaling pathways in primary NK cells, resulting in the production of cytokines and chemokines. Binding of ULBPs ligands to NKG2D induces calcium mobilization and activation of the JAK2, STAT5, ERK and PI3K kinase/Akt signal transduction pathway.

Description: A DNA sequence encoding the human ULBP2 (Q9BZM5) (Met 1-Ser 217), without the pro peptide, was fused with a polyhistidine tag at the C-terminus.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I-related molecule that binds to the NKG2D receptor on natural killer (NK) cells to trigger release of multiple cytokines and chemokines that in turn contribute to the recruitment and activation of NK cells. The encoded protein undergoes further processing to generate the mature protein that is either anchored to membrane via a glycosylphosphatidylinositol moiety, or secreted. Many malignant cells secrete the encoded protein to evade immunosurveillance by NK cells. This gene is located in a cluster of multiple MHC class I-related genes on chromosome 6. Uniprot Description

ULBP2: Ligand for the NKG2D receptor, together with at least ULBP1 and ULBP3. In CMV infected cells, interacts with soluble CMV glycoprotein UL16. The interaction with UL16 blocked the interaction with the NKG2D receptor, providing a mechanism by which CMV infected cells might escape the immune system. UL16 also causes ULBP2 to be retained in the ER and cis- Golgi apparatus so that it does not reach the cell surface. Belongs to the MHC class I family.

Product Notes

The ULBP2 / N2DL-2 ulbp2 (Catalog #AAA2545561) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant human ULBP2 consists of 203 amino acids and has a predicted molecular mass of 23.2 kDa. As a result of glycosylation, the apparent molecular mass of rh ULBP2 is approximately 33 kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ULBP2 / N2DL-2 ulbp2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ULBP2 / N2DL-2, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
