Related Product Information for TNNT2 recombinant protein
Troponin, working in conjunction with tropomyosin, functions as a molecular switch, regulating muscle contraction in response to changes in the intracellular Ca2+ concentration. Troponin consists of three subunits, the Ca2+-binding subunit troponin C (TnC), the tropomyosin-binding subunit troponin T (TnT), and the inhibitory subunit troponin I (TnI). Troponin I binds to actin in thin myofilaments to hold the actin-tropomyosin complex in place, because of which myosin cannot bind to actin in relaxed muscle. When Calcium binds to the Troponin C it causes certain confomational changes which leads to dislocation of troponin I. The letter "I" is given due to its inhibitory character.

Recombinant Human cTnI is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 165 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 24,016D.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is the tropomyosin-binding subunit of the troponin complex, which is located on the thin filament of striated muscles and regulates muscle contraction in response to alterations in intracellular calcium ion concentration. Mutations in this gene have been associated with familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy as well as with dilated cardiomyopathy. Transcripts for this gene undergo alternative splicing that results in many tissue-specific isoforms, however, the full-length nature of some of these variants has not yet been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

TNNT2: Troponin T is the tropomyosin-binding subunit of troponin, the thin filament regulatory complex which confers calcium-sensitivity to striated muscle actomyosin ATPase activity. Heart. The fetal heart shows a greater expression in the atrium than in the ventricle, while the adult heart shows a greater expression in the ventricle than in the atrium. Isoform 6 predominates in normal adult heart. Isoforms 1, 7 and 8 are expressed in fetal heart. Isoform 7 is also expressed in failing adult heart. Belongs to the troponin T family. 11 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The TNNT2 tnnt2 (Catalog #AAA636677) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Recombinant, Human (E Coli). and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Troponin I, Cardiac, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
