NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a kininase that uses zinc as a cofactor. The encoded oligopeptidase cleaves cytosolic peptides, making them unavailable for display on antigen-presenting cells. This protein also cleaves neuropeptides under 20 aa in length and can degrade beta-amyloid precursor protein to amyloidogenic peptides. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2015]

Uniprot Description

THOP1: a protease that cleaves preferentially bonds with hydrophobic residues at P1, P2 and P3' and a small residue at P1' in substrates of 5 to 15 residues. Involved in the metabolism of neuropeptides under 20 amino acid residues long. Involved in cytoplasmic peptide degradation. Able to degrade the beta-amyloid precursor protein and generate amyloidogenic fragments.

Product Notes

The Human THOP1 thop1 (Catalog #AAA288685) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA288685 ELISA Kit recognizes Human THOP1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Thimet oligopeptidase, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
