HMCN1 sirna
HMCN1 siRNA (Human)
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a large extracellular member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. A similar protein in C. elegans forms long, fine tracks at specific extracellular sites that are involved in many processes such as stabilization of the germline syncytium, anchorage of mechanosensory neurons to the epidermis, and organization of hemidesmosomes in the epidermis. Mutations in this gene may be associated with age-related macular degeneration. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
HMCN1: Defects in HMCN1 are a cause of age-related macular degeneration type 1 (ARMD1). ARMD is a multifactorial eye disease and the most common cause of irreversible vision loss in the developed world. In most patients, the disease is manifest as ophthalmoscopically visible yellowish accumulations of protein and lipid (known as drusen) that lie beneath the retinal pigment epithelium and within an elastin-containing structure known as Bruch membrane. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q25.3-q31.1
Cellular Component: extracellular matrix; basement membrane; cell cortex; cell junction
Molecular Function: calcium ion binding
Biological Process: visual perception; response to stimulus
Disease: Macular Degeneration, Age-related, 1

Product Notes
The HMCN1 hmcn1 (Catalog #AAA8228967) is a siRNA produced from Synthetic and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The HMCN1 siRNA (Human) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's HMCN1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, RNA Interference (RNAi). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HMCN1 hmcn1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HMCN1, siRNA" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
