NCBI Description

This locus represents naturally occurring read-through transcription between the neighboring TNFAIP8L2 (tumor necrosis factor, alpha-induced protein 8-like 2) and SCNM1 (sodium channel modifier 1) genes on chromosome 1. The read-through transcript encodes a protein that shares sequence identity with the downstream gene product but its N-terminal region is shorter due to alternate exon use, compared to the downstream gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]

Uniprot Description

SCNM1: Plays a role in RNA splicing, possibly contributing to the recognition of non-consensus donor sites. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q21.3

Cellular Component: nucleolus; nuclear speck; nucleus

Molecular Function: enzyme binding; metal ion binding

Biological Process: RNA splicing; mRNA processing

Product Notes

The SCNM1 scnm1 (Catalog #AAA8219000) is a Blocking Peptide produced from Synthetic and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SCNM1 Blocking Peptide reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SCNM1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Blocking (BL). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SCNM1 scnm1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SCNM1, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
