Human Stereocilin, STRC ELISA Kit
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a protein that is associated with the hair bundle of the sensory hair cells in the inner ear. The hair bundle is composed of stiff microvilli called stereocilia and is involved with mechanoreception of sound waves. This gene is part of a tandem duplication on chromosome 15; the second copy is a pseudogene. Mutations in this gene cause autosomal recessive non-syndromic deafness. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
STRC: Essential to the formation of horizontal top connectors between outer hair cell stereocilia. Defects in STRC are the cause of deafness autosomal recessive type 16 (DFNB16). DFNB16 is a form of sensorineural hearing loss. Sensorineural deafness results from damage to the neural receptors of the inner ear, the nerve pathways to the brain, or the area of the brain that receives sound information. Defects in STRC are a cause of deafness-infertility syndrome (DIS). DIS is characterized by deafness and infertility and is caused by large contiguous gene deletions at 15q15.3 that removes both STRC and CATSPER2 genes. Belongs to the stereocilin family.

Product Notes
The Human STRC strc (Catalog #AAA9331647) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9331647 ELISA Kit recognizes Human STRC. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "stereocilin, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
