Principle of the assay: STMN-1 ELISA kit applies the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate has been pre-coated with a monoclonal antibody specific for STMN-1. Standards or samples are then added to the microtiter plate wells and STMN-1 if present, will bind to the antibody pre-coated wells. In order to quantitatively determine the amount of STMN-1 present in the sample, a standardized preparation of horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated polyclonal antibody, specific for STMN-1 are added to each well to "sandwich" the STMN-1 immobilized on the plate. The microtiter plate undergoes incubation, and then the wells are thoroughly washed to remove all unbound components. Next, substrate solutions are added to each well. The enzyme (HRP) and substrate are allowed to react over a short incubation period. Only those wells that contain STMN-1 and enzyme-conjugated antibody will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The STMN-1 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene belongs to the stathmin family of genes. It encodes a ubiquitous cytosolic phosphoprotein proposed to function as an intracellular relay integrating regulatory signals of the cellular environment. The encoded protein is involved in the regulation of the microtubule filament system by destabilizing microtubules. It prevents assembly and promotes disassembly of microtubules. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2009]
Uniprot Description
STMN1: a microtubule-associated protein involved in the regulation of the microtubule filament system by destabilizing microtubules. It prevents assembly and promotes disassembly of microtubules. Phosphorylation reduces tubulin binding 10-fold and suppresses the MT polymerization inhibition activity. Present in much greater abundance in cells from patients with acute leukemia of different subtypes than in normal peripheral blood lymphocytes, nonleukemic proliferating lymphoid cells, bone marrow cells, or cells from patients with chronic lymphoid or myeloid leukemia.

Product Notes
The Human STMN1 stmn1 (Catalog #AAA729372) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA729372 ELISA Kit recognizes Human STMN1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Stathmin 1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
