Small nuclear ribonucleoprotein polypeptide F, also known SNRPF, belongs to the snRNP Sm proteins family. There are at least seven isoforms, E, F, G, D1, D2, D3 and B/B. This class of common proteins plays an essential role in the biogenesis of the snRNPs. In addition, these proteins represent the major targets for the so-called anti-Sm auto-antibodies which are for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). SNRPF aid in the cytoplasmic construction of the usnRNPs by binding to aconserved Sm site on usnRNA and forming a stable snRNP core complex. Recombinant human SNRPF protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E Coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

Uniprot Description
Core component of the spliceosomal U1, U2, U4 and U5 small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs), the building blocks of the spliceosome. Thereby, plays an important role in the splicing of cellular pre-mRNAs. Most spliceosomal snRNPs contain a common set of Sm proteins SNRPB, SNRPD1, SNRPD2, SNRPD3, SNRPE, SNRPF and SNRPG that assemble in a heptameric protein ring on the Sm site of the small nuclear RNA to form the core snRNP. As part of the U7 snRNP it is involved in histone 3'-end processing.
