NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the ZIP family of metal ion transporters. The encoded protein functions as a zinc transporter. Mutations in this gene may be associated with susceptibility to carotid artery disease. Multiple transcript variants have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]

Uniprot Description

SLC39A2: Mediates zinc uptake. Zinc uptake may be mediated by a Zn(2+)-HCO(3)(-) symport mechanism and can function in the presence of albumin. May also transport other divalent cations. May be important in contact inhibition of normal epithelial cells and loss of its expression may play a role in tumorigenesis. Belongs to the ZIP transporter (TC 2.A.5) family.

Product Notes

The SLC39A2 slc39a2 (Catalog #AAA152142) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's ZIP2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Blocking (BL). ZIP2 peptide is used for blocking the activity of ZIP2 antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SLC39A2 slc39a2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ZIP2, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
