Related Product Information for SLAMF6 recombinant protein
Background: SLAM family member 6, also known as Activating NK receptor, NK-T-B-antigen, NTB-A, SLAMF6, KALI and Ly18, is a single-pass type I membrane protein that belongs to the CD2 subfamily of the immunoglobulin superfamily. SLAMF6/Ly18 contains one Ig-like (immunoglobulin-like) domain. It is expressed by all (resting and activated) natural killer cells (NK), T- and B-lymphocytes. SLAMF6/Ly18 triggers cytolytic activity only in natural killer cells (NK) expressing high surface densities of natural cytotoxicity receptors. SLAMF6/Ly18 is a homodimer. It interacts with PTN6 and, upon phosphorylation, with PTN11 and SH2D1A/SAP. SLAMF6/Ly18 undergoes tyrosine phosphorylation and associates with the Src homology 2 domain-containing protein (SH2D1A) as well as with SH2 domain-containing phosphatases (SHPs). It may function as a coreceptor in the process of NK cell activation. SLAMF6/Ly18 can also mediate inhibitory signals in NK cells from X-linked lymphoproliferative patients.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a type I transmembrane protein, belonging to the CD2 subfamily of the immunoglobulin superfamily. This encoded protein is expressed on Natural killer (NK), T, and B lymphocytes. It undergoes tyrosine phosphorylation and associates with the Src homology 2 domain-containing protein (SH2D1A) as well as with SH2 domain-containing phosphatases (SHPs). It functions as a coreceptor in the process of NK cell activation. It can also mediate inhibitory signals in NK cells from X-linked lymphoproliferative patients. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.[provided by RefSeq, May 2010]

Uniprot Description

SLAMF6: Triggers cytolytic activity only in natural killer cells (NK) expressing high surface densities of natural cytotoxicity receptors. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Receptor, misc.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q23.2

Cellular Component: integral to membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: receptor activity

Product Notes

The SLAMF6 slamf6 (Catalog #AAA8121022) is a Recombinant Protein produced from HEK293 Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Met1-Met22 6. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SLAMF6, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
