Phenomenon explanation
The possible reasons that the actual band size differs from the predicted are as follows:
1. Splice variants: Alternative splicing may create different sized proteins from the same gene.
2. Relative charge: The composition of amino acids may affect the charge of the protein.
3. Post-translational modification: Phosphorylation, glycosylation, methylation etc.
4. Post-translation cleavage: Many proteins are synthesized as pro-proteins, and then cleaved to give the active form.
5. Polymerization of the target protein: Dimerization, multimerization etc.
Usage
Reconstitute in ddH2O to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Do not vortex.
Preparation and Storage
Storage:
Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Store at 2-8 degree C for one month.
Aliquot and store at -80 degree C for 12 months.

Stability Test:
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a transmembrane (type I) heparan sulfate proteoglycan and is a member of the syndecan proteoglycan family. The syndecans mediate cell binding, cell signaling, and cytoskeletal organization and syndecan receptors are required for internalization of the HIV-1 tat protein. The syndecan-2 protein functions as an integral membrane protein and participates in cell proliferation, cell migration and cell-matrix interactions via its receptor for extracellular matrix proteins. Altered syndecan-2 expression has been detected in several different tumor types. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

syndecan-2: a heparan sulfate proteoglycan type I membrane protein that belongs to the syndecan proteoglycan family. Preferentially expressed in cells of mesenchymal origin. Is tyrosine phosphorylated and forms a complex with EphB2 in mouse brain. Plays a role in mediating adhesion and proliferation of colon carcinoma cells.

Product Notes

The HSPG sdc2 (Catalog #AAA2009846) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E.coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Recombinant Heparan Sulfate Proteoglycan (HSPG) reacts with Homo sapiens (Human) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. Positive Control, Immunogen, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HSPG sdc2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Heparan Sulfate Proteoglycan (HSPG), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
