Related Product Information for SDC1 recombinant protein
Syndecan-1 (SYND1 or SDC1) is also known as CD antigen CD138; is a transmembrane (type I) heparan sulfate proteoglycan and is a member of the syndecan proteoglycan family. The syndecans mediate cell binding; cell signaling; and cytoskeletal organization and syndecan receptors are required for internalization of the HIV-1 tat protein. The syndecan-1/SDC1 protein functions as an integral membrane protein and participates in cell proliferation; cell migration and cell-matrix interactions via its receptor for extracellular matrix proteins. It is a useful marker for plasma cells; but only if the cells tested are already known to be derived from blood.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a transmembrane (type I) heparan sulfate proteoglycan and is a member of the syndecan proteoglycan family. The syndecans mediate cell binding, cell signaling, and cytoskeletal organization and syndecan receptors are required for internalization of the HIV-1 tat protein. The syndecan-1 protein functions as an integral membrane protein and participates in cell proliferation, cell migration and cell-matrix interactions via its receptor for extracellular matrix proteins. Altered syndecan-1 expression has been detected in several different tumor types. While several transcript variants may exist for this gene, the full-length natures of only two have been described to date. These two represent the major variants of this gene and encode the same protein. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The SDC1 sdc1 (Catalog #AAA845573) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is Gln 23 - Gly 254. AAA Biotech's Syndecan-1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SDC1 sdc1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Syndecan-1, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
