Related Product Information for SCG3 recombinant protein
Background: SCG3, also known as secretogranin 3, is a member of the chromogranin/secretogranin family. Members of this family may serve as precursors for biologically active peptides. SCG3 is transported to secretory granules (SGs) in neuroendocrine cells. SCG3 binds strongly to chromogranin A (CgA) in an intragranular milieu and targets CgA to SGs in pituitary and pancreatic endocrine cells. With a sucrose density gradient of rat insulinoma-derived INS-1 cell homogenates, SgIII is localized to the SG fraction and is fractionated to the SG membrane (SGM) despite lacking the transmembrane region.

Description: A DNA sequence encoding the human SCG3 (AAH14539.1) (Met1-Leu468) was expressed with a C-terminal polyhistidine tag.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the chromogranin/secretogranin family of neuroendocrine secretory proteins. Granins may serve as precursors for biologically active peptides. Some granins have been shown to function as helper proteins in sorting and proteolytic processing of prohormones; however, the function of this protein is unknown. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

Uniprot Description

Product Notes

The SCG3 scg3 (Catalog #AAA2545206) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant human SCG3 comprises 460 amino acids and has a predicted molecular mass of 52.4 kDa. The apparent molecular mass of the protein is approximately 54-63 kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SCG3 scg3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SCG3 / Secretogranin 3, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
