Related Product Information for SAA1 elisa kit
Principle of the Assay: The MBSMouse SAA ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Mouse SAAin Cell Culture Supernatants, Serum, Plasma, Urine. This assay employs an antibody specific for Mouse SAAcoated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and SAApresent in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Mouse SAAantibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SAAbound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Background: Serum amyloid A protein (SAA), also known as SAA1, is a protein that inhumans is encoded by the SAA1 gene. This gene encodes a member of the serum amyloid A family of apolipoproteins. It is mapped to 11p15.1. SAA is a major acute phase protein that is highly expressed in response to inflammation and tissue injury. This protein also plays an important role in HDL metabolism and cholesterol homeostasis. High levels of this protein are associated with chronic inflammatory diseases including atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer's disease and Crohn's disease. This protein may also be a potential biomarker for certain tumors.

Uniprot Description

SAA1: Major acute phase reactant. Apolipoprotein of the HDL complex. Reactive, secondary amyloidosis is characterized by the extracellular accumulation in various tissues of the SAA1 protein. These deposits are highly insoluble and resistant to proteolysis; they disrupt tissue structure and compromise function. Elevated serum SAA1 protein levels may be associated with lung cancer. Belongs to the SAA family.

Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted

Cellular Component: extracellular space; extracellular region

Molecular Function: heparin binding; protein binding; G-protein-coupled receptor binding; chemoattractant activity

Biological Process: cholesterol metabolic process; acute-phase response

Product Notes

The Mouse SAA1 saa1 (Catalog #AAA824614) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA824614 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse SAA1. AAA Biotech's SAA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Sandwich ELISA (SE). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SAA1 saa1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SAA, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
