NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The product of this gene belongs to the family of classical tyrosine-specific protein tyrosine phosphatases. Many protein tyrosine phosphatases have been shown to regulate fundamental cellular processes and several are mutated in human diseases. Chromosome 10q contains a segmental duplication resulting in multiple copies of the protein tyrosine phosphatase, non-receptor type 20 gene. The two nearly identical copies are designated as PTPN20A and PTPN20B. A third copy is only partially duplicated and contains a pseudogene, designated as PTPN20C. This gene encodes the more telomeric copy, PTPN20B. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes
The PTPN20B (Catalog #AAA637336) is an Active Protein produced from Recombinant, rat from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase, Non-receptor Type 1, catalytic domain, (1-321), Recombinant, Rat (PTPN (PTPN1, Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase 1B, Placental Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase) reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. useful for the study of enzyme kinetics, regulation, to dephosphorylate target substrates and for screening inhibitors. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PTPN20B for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase, Non-receptor Type 1, catalytic domain,, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
