No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Synapsin II (SYN2) and analogues was observed.
To minimize extra influence on the performance, operation procedures and lab conditions, especially room temperature, air humidity, incubator temperature should be strictly controlled. It is also strongly suggested that the whole assay is performed by the same operator from the beginning to the end.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene is a member of the synapsin gene family. Synapsins encode neuronal phosphoproteins which associate with the cytoplasmic surface of synaptic vesicles. Family members are characterized by common protein domains, and they are implicated in synaptogenesis and the modulation of neurotransmitter release, suggesting a potential role in several neuropsychiatric diseases. This member of the synapsin family encodes a neuron-specific phosphoprotein that selectively binds to small synaptic vesicles in the presynaptic nerve terminal. Polymorphisms in this gene are associated with abnormal presynaptic function and related neuronal disorders, including autism, epilepsy, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. The tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 4 gene is located within an intron of this gene and is transcribed in the opposite direction. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2014]
Uniprot Description
SYN2: neuronal phosphoprotein that selectively binds to small synaptic vesicles in the presynaptic nerve terminal and to the cytoskeleton. May function in the regulation of neurotransmitter release and synaptogenesis. Mutations in this gene may be associated with abnormal presynaptic function and schizophrenia. Alternative splicing results in two isoforms.

Product Notes
The Rat SYN2 syn2 (Catalog #AAA2098027) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2098027 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat SYN2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Synapsin II (SYN2), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
