* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Background: Synapsin II is a member of the synapsin family. Synapsins encode neuronal phosphoproteins which associate with the cytoplasmic surface of synaptic vesicles. Family members are characterized by common protein domains, and they are implicated in synaptogenesis and the modulation of neurotransmitter release, suggesting a potential role in several neuropsychiatric diseases. This member of the synapsin family encodes a neuron-specific phosphoprotein that selectively binds to small synaptic vesicles in the presynaptic nerve terminal. Synapsin II the collective name for two proteins, Synapsin IIa and Synapsin IIb, with Synapsin IIa being the larger of the two isoforms. Their apparent molecular weights are 74,000 and 55,000 per SDS gel electrophoresis.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
neuronal phosphoprotein that coats synaptic vesicles; binds to the cytoskeleton; may be important for vesicle trafficking to synapses and for the regulation of neurotransmitter release [RGD, Feb 2006]
Uniprot Description
SYN2: neuronal phosphoprotein that selectively binds to small synaptic vesicles in the presynaptic nerve terminal and to the cytoskeleton. May function in the regulation of neurotransmitter release and synaptogenesis. Mutations in this gene may be associated with abnormal presynaptic function and schizophrenia. Alternative splicing results in two isoforms.

Product Notes
The Rat SYN2 syn2 (Catalog #AAA9711755) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9711755 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat SYN2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Synapsin-2 (SYN2), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
