Rat SOD1 ELISA Kit | SOD1 elisa kit
Rat SOD1(Superoxide Dismutase 1, Soluble) ELISA Kit
Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses the Competitive-ELISA principle. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with Rat SOD1. During the reaction, Rat SOD1 in the sample or standard competes with a fixed amount of Rat SOD1 on the solid phase supporter for sites on the Biotinylated Detection Ab specific to Rat SOD1. Excess conjugate and unbound sample or standard are washed from the plate, and Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) are added to each microplate well and incubated. Then a TMB substrate solution is added to each well. The enzymesubstrate reaction is terminated by the addition of stop solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The concentration of Rat SOD1 in the samples is then determined by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene binds copper and zinc ions and is one of two isozymes responsible for destroying free superoxide radicals in the body. The encoded isozyme is a soluble cytoplasmic protein, acting as a homodimer to convert naturally-occuring but harmful superoxide radicals to molecular oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. The other isozyme is a mitochondrial protein. Mutations in this gene have been implicated as causes of familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Rare transcript variants have been reported for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
SOD1: Destroys radicals which are normally produced within the cells and which are toxic to biological systems. Homodimer; non-disulfide linked. Homodimerization may take place via the ditryptophan cross-link at Trp-33. The pathogenic variants ALS1 Arg-38, Arg-47, Arg-86 and Ala-94 interact with RNF19A, whereas wild-type protein does not. The pathogenic variants ALS1 Arg-86 and Ala-94 interact with MARCH5, whereas wild-type protein does not. Belongs to the Cu-Zn superoxide dismutase family.

Product Notes
The Rat SOD1 sod1 (Catalog #AAA2514900) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2514900 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat SOD1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SOD1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
