Related Product Information for S100P elisa kit
Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Rat S100 calcium binding protein P (also known as S100P) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, Ascites, tissue homogenates or other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Rat S100P antibody. S100P present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat S100P Antibody is added and binds to S100P in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated S100P antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat S100P. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Protein Family

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the S100 family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. S100 proteins are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a wide range of cells, and involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. S100 genes include at least 13 members which are located as a cluster on chromosome 1q21; however, this gene is located at 4p16. This protein, in addition to binding Ca2+, also binds Zn2+ and Mg2+. This protein may play a role in the etiology of prostate cancer. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The Rat S100P (Catalog #AAA1603736) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA1603736 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat S100P. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "S100 Calcium Binding Protein P, S100P, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
