Related Product Information for SELP elisa kit
Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Rat Platelet Selectin (also known as P-S) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.

Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Rat P-S antibody. P-S present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat P-S Antibody is added and binds to P-S in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated P-Santibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat P-S. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a 140 kDa protein that is stored in the alpha-granules of platelets and Weibel-Palade bodies of endothelial cells. This protein redistributes to the plasma membrane during platelet activation and degranulation and mediates the interaction of activated endothelial cells or platelets with leukocytes. The membrane protein is a calcium-dependent receptor that binds to sialylated forms of Lewis blood group carbohydrate antigens on neutrophils and monocytes. Alternative splice variants may occur but are not well documented. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Ca2+-dependent receptor for myeloid cells that binds to carbohydrates on neutrophils and monocytes. Mediates the interaction of activated endothelial cells or platelets with leukocytes. The ligand recognized is sialyl-Lewis X. Mediates rapid rolling of leukocyte rolling over vascular surfaces during the initial steps in inflammation through interaction with SELPLG.

Product Notes

The Rat SELP selp (Catalog #AAA165082) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA165082 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat SELP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "platelet Selectin, P-Selectin, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
