Rat nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, N-AChR ELISA Kit | N-AChR elisa kit
Rat nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, N-AChR ELISA Kit
Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Rat N-AChR antibody. N-AChR present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat N-AChR Antibody is added and binds to N-AChR in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated N-AChR antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat N-AChR. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, which belongs to a superfamily of ligand-gated ion channels that play a role in fast signal transmission at synapses. These pentameric receptors can bind acetylcholine, which causes an extensive change in conformation that leads to the opening of an ion-conducting channel across the plasma membrane. This protein is an integral membrane receptor subunit that can interact with either nAChR beta-2 or nAChR beta-4 to form a functional receptor. Mutations in this gene cause nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy type 1. Polymorphisms in this gene that provide protection against nicotine addiction have been described. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2012]
Uniprot Description
After binding acetylcholine, the AChR responds by an extensive change in conformation that affects all subunits and leads to opening of an ion-conducting channel across the plasma membrane permeable to sodium ions.

Product Notes
The Rat N-AChR chrna4 (Catalog #AAA165213) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA165213 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat N-AChR. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, N-AChR, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
