Related Product Information for MAT1a elisa kit
Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Rat Methionine Adenosyltransferase I Alpha (also known as MAT1A) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.

Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Rat MAT1A antibody. MAT1A present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat MAT1A Antibody is added and binds to MAT1A in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated MAT1A antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat MAT1A. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description

This gene catalyzes a two-step reaction that involves the transfer of the adenosyl moiety of ATP to methionine to form S-adenosylmethionine and tripolyphosphate, which is subsequently cleaved to PPi and Pi. S-adenosylmethionine is the source of methyl groups for most biological methylations. The encoded protein is found as a homotetramer (MAT I) or a homodimer (MAT III) whereas a third form, MAT II (gamma), is encoded by the MAT2A gene. Mutations in this gene are associated with methionine adenosyltransferase deficiency. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Catalyzes the formation of S-adenosylmethionine from methionine and ATP. The reaction comprises two steps that are both catalyzed by the same enzyme: formation of S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet) and triphosphate, and subsequent hydrolysis of the triphosphate.

Product Notes

The Rat MAT1a mat1a (Catalog #AAA1600358) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA1600358 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat MAT1a. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Methionine Adenosyltransferase I Alpha (MAT1a), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
