NCBI Description

binds microtubules and may function as microtubule cross-linkers [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

MAP1B: the function of brain MAPS is essentially unknown. Phosphorylated MAP1B may play a role in the cytoskeletal changes that accompany neurite extension. Possibly MAP1B Binds to at least two tubulin subunits in the polymer, and this bridging of subunits might be involved in nucleating microtubule polymerization and in stabilizing microtubules.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Cellular Component: microtubule; cell; dendrite; postsynaptic density; dendritic spine; perikaryon; cytosol; microtubule associated complex; growth cone; cytoskeleton; photoreceptor outer segment; cell soma; axon; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; cytoplasm; plasma membrane; intracellular; cell junction

Molecular Function: protein binding; microtubule binding; protein complex binding; phospholipid binding; actin binding

Biological Process: induction of synaptic plasticity by chemical substance; axon extension; positive regulation of axon extension; positive regulation of microtubule polymerization; response to insecticide; axon regeneration in the peripheral nervous system; response to estradiol stimulus; response to carbohydrate stimulus; response to vitamin A; mitochondrion transport along microtubule; developmental maturation; synaptogenesis; dendrite development; response to wounding; response to axon injury; response to drug; response to nutrient levels; nervous system development; response to inorganic substance; negative regulation of microtubule depolymerization; negative regulation of intracellular transport; axonogenesis; response to mechanical stimulus; neuron development; positive regulation of neuron differentiation; cellular process; microtubule bundle formation

Product Notes

The Rat MAP1B map1b (Catalog #AAA2891264) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2891264 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat MAP1B. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MAP1B/Microtubule-Associated Protein 1B, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
