Important in mediating the effect of LDL (low density lipoprotein) uptake on suppression of hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase and activation of endogenous cellular cholesteryl ester formation
Catalytic activity: A steryl ester + H2O = a sterol + a fatty acid.
