Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Rat Intercellular Adhesion Molecule 4 (also known as ICAM-4) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.
Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Rat ICAM-4 antibody. ICAM-4 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat ICAM-4 Antibody is added and binds to ICAM-4 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated ICAM-4 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat ICAM-4. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

This gene encodes the Landsteiner-Wiener (LW) blood group antigen(s) that belongs to the immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily, and that shares similarity with the intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) protein family. This ICAM protein contains 2 Ig-like C2-type domains and binds to the leukocyte adhesion LFA-1 protein. The molecular basis of the LW(A)/LW(B) blood group antigens is a single aa variation at position 100; Gln-100=LW(A) and Arg-100=LW(B). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
