Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Rat Integrin Alpha 5 Beta 3 (also known as ITG A5B3) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.
Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Rat ITG A5B3 antibody. ITG A5B3 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat ITG A5B3 Antibody is added and binds to ITG A5B3 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated ITG A5B3 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat ITG A5B3. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

This gene encodes the alpha 1 subunit of integrin receptors. This protein heterodimerizes with the beta 1 subunit to form a cell-surface receptor for collagen and laminin. The heterodimeric receptor is involved in cell-cell adhesion and may play a role in inflammation and fibrosis. The alpha 1 subunit contains an inserted (I) von Willebrand factor type I domain which is thought to be involved in collagen binding. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
