Related Product Information for Hepc25 elisa kit
Principle of the Assay: This experiment use double-sandwich elisa technique and the ELISA Kit provided is typical. The pre-coated antibody is Rat Hcy monoclonal antibody and the detecting antibody is polyclonal antibody with biotin labeled. Samples and biotin labeling antibody are added into ELISA plate wells and washed out with PBS or TBS. Then Avidin-peroxidase conjugates are added to ELISA wells in order; Use TMB substrate for coloring after reactant thoroughly washed out by PBS or TBS. TMB turns into blue in peroxidase catalytic and finally turns into yellow under the action of acid. The color depth and the testing factors in samples are positively correlated.

NCBI Description

The product encoded by this gene is involved in the maintenance of iron homeostasis, and it is necessary for the regulation of iron storage in macrophages, and for intestinal iron absorption. The preproprotein is post-translationally cleaved into mature peptides of 20, 22 and 25 amino acids, and these active peptides are rich in cysteines, which form intramolecular bonds that stabilize their beta-sheet structures. These peptides exhibit antimicrobial activity. Mutations in this gene cause hemochromatosis type 2B, also known as juvenile hemochromatosis, a disease caused by severe iron overload that results in cardiomyopathy, cirrhosis, and endocrine failure. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

HAMP: Seems to act as a signaling molecule involved in the maintenance of iron homeostasis. Seems to be required in conjunction with HFE to regulate both intestinal iron absorption and iron storage in macrophages. Defects in HAMP are the cause of hemochromatosis type 2B (HFE2B); also known as juvenile hemochromatosis (JH). HFE2B is a disorder of iron metabolism with excess deposition of iron in the tissues, bronze skin pigmentation, hepatic cirrhosis, arthropathy and diabetes. The most common symptoms of hemochromatosis type 2 at presentation are hypogonadism and cardiomyopathy. Belongs to the hepcidin family.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.1

Cellular Component: apical cortex; extracellular region

Molecular Function: hormone activity

Biological Process: cellular iron ion homeostasis; killing of cells of another organism; defense response to bacterium; immune response; defense response to fungus

Disease: Hemochromatosis, Type 2b

Product Notes

The Rat Hepc25 hamp (Catalog #AAA2602580) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2602580 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat Hepc25. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Hepcidin 25 (Hepc25), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
